The US administration may face multibillion-dollar costs in renaming the Ministry of Defense to the Department of War. According to Western media, costs will be required for a large-scale replacement of symbols at department facilities around the world.

Officials will have to update the symbols on more than 700,000 Pentagon facilities located in 40 countries and 50 US states. We are talking about replacing all the paraphernalia - from the official forms of the six branches of the armed forces and subordinate agencies to the details of the design of canteens, elements of staff uniforms and souvenirs.

The publication notes that many employees of the department expressed disappointment and bewilderment in connection with the decree signed on Friday by President Donald Trump. A former Pentagon official quoted by the publication described this measure as "purely political," noting that not only would it cost millions of dollars, but it would have absolutely no impact on China or Russia.

The American media noted that the official renaming of the ministry is likely to require the adoption of a corresponding law by the US Congress. The White House is looking for ways to implement the initiative bypassing the legislature.
