"During the meeting of the coalition of the willing, US President Donald Trump did not give European leaders any clear commitments to impose new sanctions on Russia. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal newspaper with reference to sources present at the meeting.

According to sources, the American leader agreed that the United States and Europe can begin joint technical work on additional sanctions against Russia, including secondary sanctions against other countries. However, there were no clear commitments on the introduction of new restrictions from the United States.

A meeting of the coalition of willing parties took place in Paris the day before. It was held in a mixed format under the chairmanship of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron. Through joint efforts, European leaders hoped to enlist the support of the United States in imposing additional sanctions against Russia in the event of a lack of progress in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
