The Government of the Russian Federation has proposed to amend federal legislation regarding the assignment of the status of a combat veteran. The relevant bill has been submitted to the State Duma for consideration. This was announced by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Now, volunteers who have signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defense from October 2022 to September 2023 will be able to receive the status of a veteran or disabled combat soldier. This category of citizens will be able to count on appropriate social guarantees from the state.

"They performed significant tasks, showed courage and heroism fighting for our country, so each of them gets the opportunity to apply for the status of a veteran or a disabled combatant and acquire all the advantages they deserve," the head of the Cabinet emphasized.

According to Mishustin, the State Duma will begin consideration of the bill next week.
