FSB officers prevented a terrorist attack in the FSB building in Crimea. This was reported in the Center for Public Relations of the special service.

The attack was supposed to be committed by a 54-year-old resident of the Volgograd region, who was tricked by the SBU into going to Crimea and carrying an icon with an embedded explosive device into the building of the department.

The Special Service of Ukraine contacted the woman in the spring of this year under the guise of an FSB investigator. She was told that the man on the terrorist list had taken a loan in her name and transferred the money to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In order to avoid criminal liability, the Russian woman, on the instructions of the Ukrainian curator, issued several loans secured by her apartment in the amount of more than 3 million rubles and transferred them to the attackers.

Then the woman was given the task to bring the icon to the FSB building in Crimea. There, she was supposed to send a text message code that would set off an explosive device inside the icon. According to the intruders, the woman was supposed to die.

However, she failed to complete the plan. The bomb icon given to her by courier was discovered by FSB officers at the checkpoint. The power of the improvised explosive device was 1 kg in TNT equivalent.

A criminal case was opened into the incident under the articles "Attempted terrorist act" and "Illegal acquisition, transfer, storage, transportation, transfer or carrying of explosives or explosive devices."
