Head of Rospotrebnadzor: the number of infections with the new strain of coronavirus "Stratus" is growing in the regions of Russia

The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, reported an increase in cases of infection with the new strain of coronavirus Stratus in Russia.

In an interview «The course is mild and "Stratus" did not bring anything unusual in terms of the clinical manifestation of the disease. It is more contagious, that is, more contagious. This is a familiar story, when every next coronavirus gene variant changes. And in order to survive, it must acquire some special properties. These are the features that are becoming more contagious today," explained Anna Popova.

At the same time, she stressed that coronavirus infection remains unpredictable in principle and can have long-term consequences for the body. In this regard, Popova urged Russians to take care of their health responsibly and not neglect well-known preventive measures: vaccination, revaccination, wearing masks in crowded places and hygiene.

Experts note that such dynamics correspond to global trends in which new virus subvariants evolve towards greater contagiousness, but at the same time lower pathogenicity.
