The security forces detained Alexander Ufimtsev, the ex-deputy governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, who is on the international wanted list for fraud. This is reported by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
Criminal proceedings have been resumed against the detained ex-official.
According to the investigation, in 2009-2010, Ufimtsev and his accomplices fraudulently and free of charge illegally acquired the right to use a federally owned forest plot.
"During the period of operation of the land plot from 2009 to 2018, the actions of the defendants caused particularly large damage to the Main Forest Management of the Chelyabinsk Region," the TFR reports.
