At a meeting of the Federation Council, a law was approved that provides for the imposition of fines for searching the Internet for materials containing extremist ideas, as well as for advertising VPN services.
A new article 13.53 will be added to the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation, which provides for punishment for the deliberate search and dissemination of materials containing extremist ideas, including those included in the relevant list. For violating this law, citizens can be fined from 3 to 5 thousand rubles.
Amendments were also made to article 14.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation, which deals with violations of advertising legislation. For distributing ads for VPN services, citizens can be fined from 50 to 80 thousand rubles, officials from 80 to 150 thousand rubles, and legal entities from 200 to 500 thousand rubles.
