In the first half of 2025, there was a significant increase in Russian aluminum imports among key trading partners. According to the analysis of data from the national statistical services, China and South Korea showed the most significant growth.

China has almost doubled its purchases of Russian aluminum: in the first half of 2025, the country purchased $3 billion worth of metal compared to $1.8 billion in the same period last year.

South Korea also saw a twofold increase in imports, with purchases totaling $632.6 million, compared with $365.85 million a year earlier.

It is noteworthy that the European Union, despite the sanctions imposed at the beginning of the year against Russian aluminum, has also increased its purchases. In the first five months of 2025, the volume of imports increased by 6% and reached 403 million dollars.
