In Russia, the average salary is 97 thousand rubles, which is 16% more than a year earlier. At the same time, the level of average salaries, as well as their growth rates, vary markedly by region. This is reported by the Izvestia newspaper.&with reference to Rosstat data for April 2025.
The highest level and income growth was recorded in Chukotka, where the average salary is 223 thousand rubles. It has grown by 20% in a year. Also among the leaders in terms of salaries are the Yamalo-Nenets and Nenets Autonomous Districts, Moscow and the Magadan Region - 145-185 thousand rubles.
The lowest average salaries were in the republics of the North Caucasus. For example, in Ingushetia it amounts to 41 thousand rubles, having increased by only 8% over the year. In Chechnya, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria and Ossetia, average incomes range from 44-51 thousand rubles.
As a result, the gap between the average earnings in the regions is a record 182 thousand rubles (almost six times). This indicator has grown by 25% over the year.
Experts explain the difference in salaries by the rapid growth of salaries in regions with developed industry, including due to staff shortages. Also, in the regions of the Far North and Siberia, salaries are increased due to allowances for living in harsh conditions. In less developed regional economies, wages are consistently lagging behind the average.
