1,353 tons of fuel oil-contaminated soil were collected from the Black Sea coast

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev held a meeting of the government commission to discuss measures to eliminate the consequences of the emergency caused by the tanker collision in the Kerch Strait.

"The divers continue to collect the contaminated soil. At the moment, 1,353 tons of soil have been collected. 167 divers are involved in the work. As a result of the inspection of the sunken ships, no leaks of petroleum products were found.

Since the beginning of the emergency response work, more than 740 kilometers of coastline have been cleared. About 176,5 thousand tons of polluted sand and soil were collected. More than 167 thousand tons of materials were sent for recycling.

The work on dismantling individual parts of the sunken ships is coming to an end. It is planned to complete them by the end of July. The assembly of the cofferdams sections continues. The readiness level of the three cofferdams is about 50%.

Work continues on dismantling the superstructures of the vessels. More than 230 meters out of 245 meters have been cut, which is 94%. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.

Work continues on the assembly of metal structures for cofferdams at the port of Novorossiysk dock. Piles are being sunk in the perimeter of the sunken tankers. 16 piles out of 48 have already been loaded. Work is on schedule.
