The Russian coal industry is in crisis, and the loss of export supplies is observed in all directions, including the eastern one. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy Dmitry Islamov in an interview with TASS.

- The margin is still negative across the board. And in the east, and in the northwest, and in the south. If you take an average of a year, then the east is a more profitable direction," Islamov said.

At the same time, the ministry expects that the coal industry will be able to overcome the crisis as early as 2026.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed on a program of the Ministry of Energy to support the coal industry, including: special tariffs for Russian Railways, including a 12.8% discount on coal exports in the western and southern directions, and the return of reducing coefficients for thermal coal (from May to December). These measures of support for Russian Railways are compensated by the Ministry of Finance.
