Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov answered a question about housing and communal services tariffs, the growth of which outstrips inflation, at the session Supply-side Economics and growth strategy in the face of modern challenges at SPIEF 2025.

According to Reshetnikov, in general, macroeconomic tariffs are justified. The tariff for housing and communal services arose due to an additional increase in gas prices due to an increase in the tax on mining. The mineral extraction tax is included in the cost of heat, as well as the cost of electricity. Costs are also rising in the housing and communal services sector itself.

The minister said that housing and communal services have become a social sector again due to constant budget injections.

«We had been leaving for 20 years before, now we have been returning it to budget financing for 6 years, in fact.

So that we can now equalize these prices and return some small investment potential to this area. Because we understand that we need housing and communal services. We will have to make very unpopular decisions."Our position is that everything should cost as much as it is economically worth," said the head of the Ministry of Economic Development.
