In May, new car sales in Russia decreased by 10.7% compared to April, according to data from Autostat. The annual decline was 28.3%. The May holidays, high interest rates on loans and limited demand were the main reasons, according to "a href="https://www.kommersant.ru/doc/7775823 ?from=doc_lk">"b".

Since the beginning of the year, the market has fallen by 26% to 440.3 thousand cars. Lada, Haval and Chery remain the sales leaders, although their figures decreased by 10.3%, 17.8% and 10%, respectively.

The most popular models are Lada Granta, Lada Vesta and Haval Jolion. Dealers note that discounts and promotions support demand, especially in the mass and Chinese segments. However, traditional discounts are being replaced by other forms of incentives, such as lucrative loan programs and special offers.

The stock of cars in warehouses is about 500 thousand units, which is equivalent to 6&7 months of sales. This allows dealers to offer additional discounts.

Experts expect the market to stabilize in June due to the activity of legal entities and the strengthening of the ruble.
