Cruise tourism in the Far East became one of the key topics at the meeting of the Presidium of the Maritime Board led by Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev. The meeting discussed the creation of a new cruise route that will connect Vladivostok, Kamchatka, Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands.
The meeting participants stressed the importance of developing cruise tourism in the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, given the growing popularity of the Asia-Pacific region as a tourist destination.A promising route was named the Far Eastern cruise line with a starting point in Vladivostok, which will include visits to Primorsky Krai, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and the Kuril Islands.
According to the Governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako, the launch of a new cruise line is planned in 2026. An agreement on the development of this area between the regions of the Far East has been in place since 2019, but active practical work has recently begun.
