Putin declared a truce with Ukraine in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory

By decision of President Vladimir Putin, in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, from 00:00 on May 7 to 00:00 on May 11, Russia declares a truce in the Ukrainian conflict. The fighting stops for this period.

Moscow hopes that Kiev will follow this example.

"If the Ukrainian side violates the truce, Russia will respond adequately and effectively," the Kremlin said in a statement. 

It is also noted that Russia is ready for peaceful negotiations based on "mutual respect and elimination of the causes of the crisis."
