Peskov urged not to politicize the issue of transporting Russian gas through Ukraine to the EU

Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, said in an interview with the French magazine Le Point that Russia is ready to negotiate gas transportation through Ukraine to Europe, regardless of whether the gas pipeline in this country has a new owner.

He stressed that the issue is being resolved on a commercial basis and has no political goals. Peskov also noted that Gazprom would discuss possible agreements with the new owner of the pipeline.

Earlier, the Reuters news agency reported that the United States had offered to transfer control of the Ukrainian gas pipeline to an American state-owned company.
