In the first two months of 2025, the European Union increased purchases of Russian LNG and pipeline gas by 40% to 3.32 billion euros. This is reported by TASS with reference to data from Eurostat.
In February, the EU paid 832 million euros for Russian LNG, which is 23% lower than the January purchase, but 28% more than February 2024. The purchase of pipeline gas in February cost the EU 582 million euros.
The main importers of Russian gas in February were France (381 million euros), Belgium (215 million euros) and the Netherlands (112.5 million euros). At the same time, Spain reduced the purchase of Russian LNG to 82.5 million euros.
