The calculation of fees for garbage collection may change in the regions of the Russian Federation

The Government of the Russian Federation has asked the regional authorities to consider the possibility of changing the calculation of fees for garbage collection. This will be reported by the publication «News».

Currently, the cost of MSW removal fees in most regions is calculated based on the number of registered residents. They are offered to switch to a tariff based on the housing area.

It was noted that the regions themselves decide how residents pay for garbage collection. Only in 15 regions, fees are charged based on the number of squares of living space. These are Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Leningrad, Amur, Vladimir, Irkutsk, Kaluga, Kirov regions and others.

The final decision on this issue will remain with the regions.
