Starting from April 8, Turkey temporarily suspends the supply of lemons abroad. This decision was made by the Ministry of Trade of the country due to adverse weather conditions in the citrus harvest areas and the need to protect the domestic market.
According to the Association of Mediterranean Exporters, Turkey exported 1.639 million tons of citrus fruits in 2024, which brought the country revenue of 1.046 billion dollars. Russia became the largest importer of Turkish citrus fruits with an export volume of 375 million dollars.
Iraq is in second place ($197 million), followed by Ukraine ($108 million), Romania ($49 million) and Poland ($48 million).
