US President Donald Trump has declared a state of emergency in the country, citing the threat of a trade deficit. The decree, published on the White House website, states that unequal trade relations, high tariffs and barriers of trading partners pose a threat to national security and the US economy.

As a retaliatory measure, the United States imposes increased duties on goods from other countries:

34% on goods from China
20% on goods from the European Union.

It is noteworthy that Russia is not on the list of countries subject to the new tariffs - the US Treasury justified this by saying that there is no trade between the countries.
