In the first quarter of 2025, the Russian smartphone market experienced a record drop in sales, exceeding 20% compared to the same period last year. This is the largest decline in the history of the market, except for 2022, when the supply of equipment was actually suspended for a month and a half. At the same time, the average price of smartphones increased slightly - from 24.7 thousand rubles to 25.2 thousand rubles.
The drop also affected other categories of electronics, including computers and laptops, where sales declined by about 15%.
Experts cite the high performance of the previous year, cooling consumer demand, attractive interest rates on bank deposits, a reduction in the credit market and an increase in smartphone ownership to 4.5 years instead of the previous 3 years as the main reasons for this state of affairs.
