Sales of electric vehicles in Russia in the first two months of the year fell by 63%

In January-February 2025, 1.3 thousand electric cars were sold in Russia. Compared to the same period last year, sales fell by 63%. This is reported by with reference to Autostat data.https://t.me/kommersant/80786">«Kommersant»lt;/a>.

At the same time, sales of electric vehicles in the Russian Federation have been growing for several years. So, in 2022, about 3 thousand such cars were sold during the first two months (+33% year-on-year), in 2023 - 14.1 thousand (an increase of almost five times), in 2024 - 17.8 thousand (+26%).

Also, sales of hybrid cars decreased to 3.9 thousand in January-February 2025. The year-on-year decrease was 40%. For comparison, in 2022, 430 hybrids were sold (-16%), in 2023 - 9.6 thousand (an increase of 22 times), in 2024 - 37.8 thousand (a fourfold increase).

Market participants attribute this drop to an increase in the recycling rate. From January 1, 2025, the recycling fee for new electric vehicles and hybrids amounted to 667.4 thousand rubles against 32.6 thousand in 2023, and for the same cars older than three years - up to 1.17 million rubles against 122 thousand.
