The Cabinet of Ministers approved the conditions for writing off debt on budget loans to the regions

The Government of the Russian Federation has approved the conditions under which the regions will be able to write off two thirds of their debt on budget loans, which was formed on March 1, 2024. This is reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The main conditions for debt cancellation are that the regions should invest at least half of the released funds in the implementation of infrastructure projects in the housing and communal services sector, and the other half should be used to upgrade public transport, relocate from dilapidated housing, support investments, develop support settlements and other areas.

Regions with low budget provision will be allowed to spend these funds on the implementation of national projects and on their own. To the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District and the Arctic zone - for the implementation of master plans of cities.

The regions have been instructed to send all necessary documents to the Ministry of Finance by March 1, 2025.
