The Agreement on Mutual Security between Russia and Belarus entered into force today, March 13. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Following the meeting of the heads of state in Moscow, the Presidents of Russia and Belarus exchanged letters of ratification of the Treaty on Security Guarantees of the Union State.

The agreement was signed in Minsk on December 6, 2024. According to the document, the parties to the treaty undertake to support each other by all means and means agreed upon and permissible by international law, and to take appropriate actions in the political, military and other spheres in cases of encroachments on the security of either party and the Union State as a whole.

"The western borders of the Union State are securely covered," Vladimir Putin said.
