The Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation has approved the general layout of electric power facilities until 2042. According to it, generating equipment with a total capacity of 88.477 million kW should be put into operation. By this time, the total capacity of all Russian power plants will reach 299.345 million kW.
The share of nuclear power plants in the structure of electricity production in the Russian Federation will increase to 24% by 2042 (18.9% in 2023), solar and wind power plants 3.3% (0.8% in 2023), thermal power plants will be reduced to 57.4% (62.7% in 2023).
The General Layout of electric power facilities provides for the formation of the structure of generating capacities and electric grid facilities, as well as measures to prevent projected electricity shortages and ensure the reliability of the power system.
