Central heating was turned off in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) due to the lack of Russian gas supplies, the Tirasteploenergo company reported.
Starting from January 1, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. (8:00 a.m. Moscow time), the supply of thermal energy for heating and hot water supply to the population, as well as for budgetary institutions and organizations of all forms of ownership, is stopped, the company said.
However, this decision does not affect medical institutions and social protection institutions where citizens are receiving inpatient treatment.
The reason for the shutdown was the temporary cessation of gas supplies to the heat generating facilities of the enterprise.
"Let us remind you that Gazprom announced the suspension of gas supplies through Ukraine from 8:00 a.m. Moscow time on January 1, explaining that it had lost technical and legal transit opportunities after the expiration of the agreement.
On December 11, an economic emergency was declared in Transnistria for a period of 30 days, and in Moldova, a state of emergency in the energy sector, which is associated with a possible energy crisis due to the cessation of gas supplies.
