Russia has announced leading regions in scientific and technological development. The corresponding rating based on the results of 2023 was presented during a meeting of the Commission for Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation.
The TOP 5 included Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, Tomsk Region and Novosibirsk region. Next are the Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow regions, Bashkortostan, Sverdlovsk and Samara regions. It was also noted that some regions significantly improved their performance during the reporting period, including Samara, Belgorod, Yaroslavl Regions and Perm Krai. The rating took into account the involvement of government representatives in the scientific and technological development of the region, the level of conditions created to attract high-tech businesses to the region and the conditions for the researchers themselves. The national rating was designed to encourage regional authorities to take effective measures to develop the scientific and technical sphere. The best management practices in this area will be offered to all "lagging" regions in the future.
