Coal production in Russia in 2024 will exceed 440 million tons, exports – more than 220 million tons

Russian coal companies, facing sanctions from the EU and the United States in 2022, are experiencing serious difficulties. Currently, the United States is imposing blocking sanctions on the Russian coal industry, and almost all coal mining enterprises in the country have been sanctioned. Despite this, coal production and exports to the Russian Federation have not significantly decreased.

"lt;p> As Kommersant writes, in 2021, Russian coal companies exported 223 million tons of coal, most of it to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. By the end of 2023, coal production in Russia amounted to 438 million tons, exports reached about 213 million tons. In 2024, production and exports are planned to remain at the level of 440 million tons and 210 million tons, respectively.
