By 2030, an unmanned long-distance train will appear in Russia. These plans were announced by the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov during the plenary session of the international forum "Digital Transportation 2024", reports TASS.

According to him, an unmanned long-distance train is a prospect for the near future, for the coming years. At the same time, the train driver will still remain to ensure safety.

In August 2024, the first partially unmanned electric train "Swallow" with the third level of automation, where the driver is present only for control, was already launched on the Moscow Central Ring. Russian Railways previously reported that it is planned to launch a fully unmanned train equipped with domestic systems by 2026.
