There is no shortage of yuan for payments in Russia, the problem is only in the field of foreign exchange positions of banks. This was stated by the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina.

«That swings the yuan deficit. I would like to emphasize that there is no shortage of payment liquidity in yuan and there was no …, from the point of view of closing the need for making payments in yuan,», she noted

According to her, the problems were related to the closure of an open currency position.

«Indeed, spreads were high on certain days, but we see that the spread through cross-rates has decreased significantly in recent days and is less than 1%, we will look further at this," Nabiullina stressed.

Previously "Vedomosti" reported that in Russia there was shortage of yuan liquidity due to the fact that the demand for buying Chinese currency has grown strongly.
