Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France and the initiation of a criminal case against him. The head of state announced this at the WEF in Vladivostok.

According to Vladimir Putin, there were no special claims against Pavel Durov in Russia, although the Telegram platform was often used for illegal purposes. However, the actions of Paris in relation to Pavel Durov are not very clear, since they are "selective". Similar gaps exist in other messengers and social networks. For exactly the same reasons, you can arrest and imprison the creators of other platforms.

The President said that he generally assumed that the founder of Telegram lives in Moscow.

Recall that Pavel Durov is currently released on bail of 5 million euros by a French court, but he is prohibited from leaving France without court approval for the duration of the investigation. He is accused of complicity in serious crimes committed through the messenger and refusing to cooperate with the special services of France and EU countries. He faces up to 10 years in prison for this.
