Trade turnover between Russia and the EU fell to 1% of the turnover in 2022 and continues to fall

Trade turnover between Russia and the EU countries has fallen by more than 98% and continues to decline steadily. This is reported by the publication "Kommersant", referring to the data from Eurostat.

In particular, over the past two years, European exports to Russia have decreased by 59%, while imports have fallen by 87%. The deficit in trade between the European Union and Russia in the second quarter of 2024 amounted to only 0.2 billion euros against a peak of 45.8 billion euros in April-June 2022. 

EU countries continue to reduce imports from the Russian Federation, the share of imported petroleum products, natural gas, nickel, iron and steel is decreasing. Exports from the EU to Russia are also declining. Imports of Russian goods to the EU account for only 1.3%, exports -1.2%. The EU countries were replaced by the countries of Africa, Asia and India.
