The State Duma has adopted a law on tourist tax

State Duma deputies in the third reading adopted a bill on the introduction of a tourist tax in Russia instead of the previously valid resort fee.

The tourist tax will be levied to the regional budgets at the location of the hotels. The regional authorities will independently determine the need for its introduction, as well as set the rates. It is assumed that starting from 2025 and until 2029, the tax rate will gradually increase from 1% to 5% (maximum).

Certain categories of citizens will be exempt from paying the tourist tax, including the participants of the SVO.
