Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has ruled out holding telephone negotiations with Russia regarding the conflict in Ukraine, according to TASS. He considers this format ineffective and fears that Moscow might use it as a pretext to avoid further in-person meetings.

Zelensky made the statement during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The Ukrainian leader once again ruled out the possibility of traveling to Moscow for talks, stating that such a visit "would not be supported by anyone."

Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, responding to a question from journalist Pavel Zarubin about a possible phone call between Vladimir Putin and Zelensky, said that the Russian leader has never refused to communicate with him.
