Tobacco and cigarette excise tax may rise over 6% in 2027

In 2027, the excise tax on tobacco (including pipe, smoking, chewing, snuff, and shisha tobacco) is planned to increase by 6.5%, while the tax on cigarettes will rise by 6.6%, according to a source familiar with the draft amendments to the Tax Code, as reported by Interfax.

Currently, the excise tax on tobacco stands at 5,182 rubles per kilogram. The proposal suggests setting it at 5,520 rubles in 2027, 5,741 rubles in 2028, and 5,971 rubles in 2029.
