Sugar prices in Russia hit 85.3 rubles per kg in August 2026, marking a year-on-year increase of 17.8%, according to Kommersant, citing data from Rosstat (the Russian Federal State Statistics Service).
Market participants have observed an acceleration in sugar price growth since June, with prices rising by 6.9% in the last month alone. Since January, sugar prices have increased by 25.7%. In contrast, the same period last year saw a 1% decrease in sugar prices. It appears that this year, producers have begun passing on their increased costs to consumers.
