Six killed, 38 injured in bus crash on Stavropol highway

Six people were killed and 38 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a truck in Stavropol Krai, southern Russia. Among the injured are five children, one of whom is in intensive care.

The accident occurred around 1 a.m. on the federal "Caucasus" highway near the village of Inozemtsevo. Preliminary reports indicate that the Setra bus traveling from Georgia to Moscow collided with a KAMAZ truck ahead of it. Following the impact, the passenger bus veered off the road and ended up in a ditch.

All injured individuals were transported to medical facilities in Pyatigorsk. Four children are reportedly in stable condition, while another child has been placed in intensive care.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the bus driver may have exceeded the speed limit and failed to maintain a safe distance from the truck.

Officers from the State Traffic Inspection and investigative authorities are on the scene, working to determine the full circumstances of the collision and the factors that led to the tragedy.
