Euro Surges Above 100 Rubles as Russian Central Bank Sharply Raises Key Currency Rates

The Central Bank of Russia has set the official exchange rates for foreign currencies on Friday, August 28. All three major currencies - the US dollar, euro, and Chinese yuan - have seen a significant increase against the ruble.

The US dollar rate has risen by 1.6721 rubles to 85.9541 rubles. The previous day, the American currency was valued at 84.2820 rubles.

The euro has increased by 2.0101 rubles, reaching 100.2998 rubles. This marks the first time since February 11, 2026, that the official euro rate has exceeded the 100-ruble mark.

The Chinese yuan has also strengthened against the ruble, with its official rate rising by 23.97 kopecks to 12.7691 rubles.
