The U.S. dollar surged above 85 rubles in the over-the-counter market, according to trading data.
On August 14, the dollar rose by 2.86% and was trading at 85.447 rubles, marking its highest level since March 20.
Overall, the U.S. currency has gained approximately 5.5% since the beginning of August. The increase is attributed to reduced foreign currency sales by exporters, lower revenue from oil sales, increased demand for foreign currency for imports, budgetary operations, seasonal demand from tourists, and sanctions-related restrictions.
