The Russian government has extended the import price cap mechanism to diesel fuel, according to the Ministry of Energy of Russia (Minenergo).

This measure is intended to create additional economic incentives for importing diesel fuel into the domestic market.

"The measure will allow, if necessary, to quickly attract additional fuel volumes from abroad, maintaining the economic attractiveness of such deliveries and ensuring reliable supply for Russian consumers," said Minenergo head Sergei Tsyviliev.

The import price cap for diesel will work similarly to the one for gasoline. It will be paid out if, in the previous month, there was a ban on the export of diesel, kerosene, and middle distillates from Russia.
