Fuel supply issues are already starting to impact road transportation in Russia. Carriers have begun warning their clients about upcoming price increases. Several companies have announced a 10% increase in freight rates starting July 1, according to Kommersant, citing market participants and experts.
It is noted that there are difficulties in finding transportation for long-distance routes across Russia. Carriers are starting to decline such orders due to uncertainty about fuel availability at gas stations (known as AZS in Russia). The fuel supply problems are particularly acute in Siberia and southern Russia, especially in border regions, complicating trip planning. The frequency of refueling trucks has increased 1.5–3 times, and delivery times have been extended due to queues at gas stations.
The fuel crisis will hit small carriers the hardest. Large companies can fill up to 200 liters per tank using their fuel cards, while individual entrepreneurs (IP) are limited to 60 liters like private individuals. Experts believe that if the situation does not change in the coming weeks, all carriers will begin raising prices.
