Putin: Russia has means to eliminate any attempt to level Kaliningrad region

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the country possesses all necessary capabilities to respond to any attempts to attack Russian military facilities on its territory.

Addressing a question from journalists, the head of state emphasized that Russia has the means to deliver a retaliatory strike against anyone who tries to carry out such threats.

"The Russian Federation has all the means to level anyone who tries to do this," Putin said.

The statement comes amid comments by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys, who told the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung that NATO should demonstrate its ability to overcome the defense of Kaliningrad Oblast (a Russian exclave bordering Poland and Lithuania). According to Budrys, the alliance allegedly has the capability to destroy Russian bases in the region.
