Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić did not rule out the possibility of stepping down from his position in the near future, according to a report by TASS.
During his visit to China, Vučić reportedly stated that he "might resign soon," without providing further details on the reasons behind this potential decision.
Vučić has been leading Serbia since 2017 and was re-elected for a second presidential term in 2022, which is set to end in 2027.
Earlier, on May 21, the Serbian leader announced plans to hold parliamentary elections in the fall, tentatively scheduled between late September and mid-November. Ana Brnabić, the Speaker of the National Assembly (Народна скупштина), stated that the ruling Serbian Progressive Party intends to nominate Vučić as a candidate for the position of Prime Minister following the elections.
