Russian lawmakers have passed in first reading and in full a law that provides relief from overdue loan obligations for participants in the special military operation and their spouses, up to a total amount of 10 million rubles.

The initiative was proposed by a group of parliamentarians from different factions. The law applies to debts where court rulings or enforcement documents have already been issued.

According to TASS, two conditions must be met simultaneously for the measure to apply. A military service contract for a term of at least one year must have been signed no earlier than May 1, 2026, and the court ruling or enforcement document must have come into force before that date.

Lawmakers in the State Duma noted that a similar support mechanism was already in place in 2024, providing assistance to thousands of military families.
