Members of the Federation Council approved a law during a plenary session to establish a sixth gambling zone in Russia. The relevant amendments will be made to the law on state regulation of gambling activities.

Under the new law, an additional gambling zone will be established in the Altai Republic. It is expected that this will attract more tourists to the region, create new jobs, and increase tax revenues for the regional budget.

Currently, there are already five gambling zones in Russia: in Crimea, Kaliningrad Oblast, as well as in Krasnodar, Altai, and Primorsky Krai.

The law will come into effect 10 days after its official publication.
