Putin, Erdogan discuss Ukraine, Iran and security of TurkStream gas pipeline in phone call

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the Kremlin. The main topic of the discussion was the escalating tensions in the Middle East and their potential impact on regional and global security.

Both leaders also focused on the situation surrounding Iran, emphasizing that further escalation could negatively affect global energy stability. They stressed the importance of preventing the conflict from spreading further and called for an immediate ceasefire in the Persian Gulf region.

During the conversation, Putin expressed gratitude to Erdogan for his willingness to facilitate negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukrainian crisis. The two sides also discussed issues related to energy infrastructure security, particularly in the Black Sea, where Moscow has noted ongoing risks of attacks on gas pipelines.
