CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Special Presidential Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, Kirill Dmitriev, stated that Western media are not prepared to openly discuss the challenges in the energy sector. According to Dmitriev, the Western information space largely ignores the new reality associated with resource shortages and supply disruptions.
Dmitriev pointed out that Western bureaucratic structures and media have become trapped in their own perceptions and are unwilling to acknowledge mistakes made in energy policy. He believes that negative information about the energy resource situation is often suppressed, and acknowledgment of missteps is delayed until the last possible moment.
He made this statement on social media while commenting on a Financial Times article predicting a sharp halt in liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments from the Gulf of Mexico region within the next 10 days.
