"Component Prices Expected to Keep Rising Through 2026, Sberbank Leasing Experts Say"

Between 2023 and 2026, the average spending of St. Petersburg residents on car maintenance increased by 5,000 rubles, according to experts at Sberbank Leasing. This trend is primarily attributed to a significant rise in the cost of auto components.
They predict further price hikes in the coming months, citing supply chain disruptions, as reported by DP.
Sberbank Leasing reported that by the end of 2025, the cost of auto parts had risen by 7-15%, depending on the type of component. The biggest price increases affected consumables, suspension, braking systems, and certain electronic components. However, the market is currently in a state of relative balance.
Sberbank Leasing notes that the situation is gradually stabilizing due to the expansion of parallel imports and the addition of new suppliers, primarily from Asia. At times, this has even led to short-term price stabilization or declines. Nevertheless, in the medium term, experts expect a moderate increase in part prices due to logistics costs, currency fluctuations, and rising material prices.
Current data from repair shops confirms this trend. The average service bill in 2023 was around 13,000 rubles, rising to 16,000 rubles in 2024, and approaching 18,000 rubles by early 2026. This information was provided by Ilya Plisov, deputy CEO of EuroAvto and board member of the Auto Service Union.
Service centers are also reporting a decrease in the frequency of visits—on average, by 5-10%. Although a decline in new car sales typically boosts the aftermarket service sector, car owners are now opting to extend the life of their existing vehicles while strictly controlling their budgets.
According to Ilya Plisov, car owners today either skip service visits altogether or opt for only essential maintenance. A typical scenario involves bringing a car in for servicing or diagnostics but agreeing only to procedures necessary to keep the vehicle running, postponing all scheduled and non-critical repairs.
As a result, the average bill is rising mainly due to an increase in labor costs and service fees, rather than the number of operations or parts themselves.
Meanwhile, Avito noted a 15% year-on-year increase in demand for car repair and maintenance services in February 2026. The most popular requests were for diagnostics and repairs, accounting for 37% of total inquiries.
According to the "Check Index" from Platform OFD, in the first two months of 2026, auto product sales in St. Petersburg fell by 5%, with a median bill of 5,600 rubles (-3% compared to the previous year). The situation in auto repair shops was better: the median bill reached 7,000 rubles (+2%), and the number of purchases increased by 3%.
Avito data shows that in February 2026, St. Petersburg residents most actively purchased body parts (29% of sales). Electronics and engine components followed with 12% each. Battery sales increased by 16%, while steering systems saw an 8% rise. On average, residents spent about 27,000 rubles on spare parts per year.
