The peaceful population of the Zaoksky district of the Tula region united around the local university to help the soldiers on the front line. During the Covid, the district Volunteer center was officially registered on the basis of the Adventist University. Students sewed masks, teachers drove doctors and were participants in the All-Russian action "We are together". Over time, they were joined by local residents.

"Already in March (after the start of the free movement, editor's note), the first who organized humanitarian aid to the victims in Mariupol and elsewhere were religious organizations, I'm talking about all organizations," notes Boris Protasevich, rector Zaoksky Adventist University.

According to Boris Protasevich, both students and teachers travel to the LPR and DPR from the university. Andrey Antyaskin, the pastor of the church, says that first of all, residents of the affected territories needed the simplest household items and medicines - these were transported along with building materials, which there was nowhere to take in places where the front line had recently passed.

Vladimir Bezukh, a resident of the village of Zaoksky and a parishioner of the church, is from Donbass. After moving there, I have been coming there with humanitarian aid throughout this time. After the front line approached Kursk, he began to travel there, helping all those in need.

"I saw deep sadness in the eyes of my fellow countrymen, but also a spark of hope." This is the most important thing for us," says Bezukh.
