The Russian government has backed a bill proposed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs that significantly broadens the grounds for deportation from Russia, according to a report by TASS news agency (RIA Novosti).

Under the new bill, foreign nationals will be subject to deportation for violations under 20 articles of the Administrative Offenses Code, which previously only carried fines. These violations include "extremist-related offenses and those jeopardizing public safety and order." Specifically, the list includes offenses such as discrediting the Russian Armed Forces (VS RF), calling for the introduction or extension of sanctions against Russia, violating the rules for organizing or holding rallies, participating in the activities of an undesirable organization, and abusing freedom of mass media.

Additionally, deportation may now follow for other offenses, including petty hooliganism, disobedience to police or National Guard (Rosgvardia) officers, violating emergency or martial law regulations, displaying Nazi or extremist symbols, and shooting firearms in violation of rules, among others.
